DJ Preach

Since 1996 Canadian Phillipe Babin, better known as DJ Preach to hundreds of thousands of fans around the world, has been spreading the message of electronic dance music to the masses – and they’ve been lapping it up.

Born and raised in Quebec, Preach became interested in DJing from a young age and cut his teeth in his home city and in Montreal, honing his sound and skills at clubs like Sona and Aria before releasing early production work on Relentless, Ascend and Edit Recordings. Soon the grand masters began to pay him attention – Tiesto, Carl Cox, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren and Marco V were all early fans of the Preach sound, which began to filter out on major imprints such as Intec, MB Electroniks, Session and Iturnem. The world beckoned and in 2005, Preach made the permanent move to the musical hotbed of the Czech Republic in Eastern Europe.

Since then Preach has created and evolved his own labels, Relic Recording and sub-label Relic Silver with co-owner Marco G, winning him critical acclaim. His own work has been released on international powerhouse labels Black Hole, Intec, Flashover, Magik Muzik, InCharge and Spinnin. His remix of Tiesto’s Carpe Noctrum featured on the Dutchman’s smash 2008 album, ‘Elements of Life Remixed. His techno-trance fuelled remix of Marcus Schossow and Thomas Saagstad’s ‘Hypnotizer’ has been doing the business on all major download stores and September sees Preach’s massive new original work ‘Joomla’ get its much-hyped release on Ferry Corsten’s label Flashover Recordings.

Out of the studio and with a packed diary, Preach criss-crosses the globe, taking in countries and continents where he preaches his sound – Creamfields, Dance Valley, Gigadance, Flower Fest and Most Festival are just a selection of the festivals to fall under his spell in 2008 alone. Pushing the boundaries of trance and techno, bringing in electro and beats, Preach is already knocking on the door of the upper echelons of the DJ hall of fame.

To top things off, Preach not only continues his dominance of the airwaves through his Transatlantic show on DI.FM and Danceradio.gr, but now broadens his empire with the addition of massive the Sirius Satellite network in American and Europe’s London Sounds show on PRL24. Extending his reach by well over a million listeners a week, this marks a new era in his career.

With more to come from both Preach and Relic Recordings, the second half of 2008 sees him take things up yet another gear. The message is simply, the delivery undeniable -Preach is on course to take the world by storm – expect one hell of a global conversion.
